Adrian Smith
was born in the Cotswolds and is largely self taught in regard to
painting but studied heraldry and interior design, attending the West
of England College of Art. He has exhibited at a number of galleries
including the Royal Society of Marine Artists in London. Adrian has
also exhibited at many venues in Cornwall.
He describes
his work as “exciting”, painting seascapes and landscapes
in an impressionist/abstract style. Much of his work is inspired by
his interest in the spiritual and pagan aspects of the area with some
paintings featuring the fascinating holy wells found locally. “Betwixt
and between” describes the way he feels about his artistic place
in society – both in style and content. He now concentrates on
being an en-plein-air artist.
His studio at his historic tin mine captain’s
house is open to visitors by appointment.
