The Flying Squirrel Craft Shop is packed full of colourful goodies. The stock includes an extensive range of haberdashery, wools (includes Sirdar, Katia, King Cole and Shetland Island wools), sumptuous fabrics in a dazzling array of designs and colours perfect for patchwork, quilting, dress-making etc (includes Moda, Timeless Treasures,
Michael Miller, and Makower designers) and locally made crafts and knitwear.
Christine Rose, the owner of the shop, has her studio on the premises where she creates clothes and gorgeous patchwork quilts made to her own designs. Bespoke items can be made to order, and mending and alteration jobs undertaken. Restoration of antique quilts is a service also provided by Christine, who is City and Guilds trained and a former Textiles Teacher. She has won awards for her machine embroidery and was highly commended at the British Quilt Festival for her Jimi Hendrix quilt which can be viewed in the shop. Christine will also give lessons in patchwork and quilting, use of the sewing machine, machine embroidery and dress-making.
